Thursday Thoughts: Living My Best Life

Living My Best Life Thursday Thoughts The Wandering Asian Couple

We’re given one life, so you bet I’m living my best life! In this Thursday Thoughts we’re going to talk about doing what you want and not being afraid to try new things.

Living My Best Life

I love to hear other peoples’ stories and their life journey. It’s not only very interesting to me, but I may learn a thing or two from it.

But First, The Haters …

There have been many people that has come into my life and are no longer a part of it. From these encounters, I’ve learned that many look at others as competitors. They hate on you for having certain things and loathe you for being able to live a certain life.

For me, I really don’t understand this. If I was placed in their shoes, I’d try to find out how you were able to do it. I would want to learn from them. Unfortunately, their ignorance gets the better of them and they carry on with their repetitive, unhappy life.

My Life

I am living my best life and the reason I can say this is that I’m not afraid to try something new. I’m not afraid to live outside the norm; outside of what society expects. I’m living my best life because I appreciate what I have and I’m thankful for my perseverance in getting here.

Where you are today is all you; you had choices and you made the decisions.

Life Journey

Ernest and I made the decision to stop working and travel the world. It was an experience of a lifetime. I learned so much about myself in those months.

Our decision, at that time, was to retire from the corporate world. After working for one of the big banks in Toronto for almost 20 years, we (thought) we were ready to leave it all behind. But after only two months into our travel journey, Ernest was ready to get right back into it. And throughout our 9 months of travel, I too, (at times) missed the hustle and bustle of the corporate world.

My Life Today

Just because we left our jobs, it doesn’t mean that we can’t get back into work life. We’re no where near retirement age, therefore we can actually still work and we probably will. However, the 9 months that we travelled and visited some of our dream destinations definitely was one of the best things we did.

And, in the meantime, in order to cure some of the boredom, I’ve decided to go back to school! Well, not literally back to school, but I have enrolled in two online courses. 🙂 Forever learning, that’s my new motto in life. It keeps me interested and it inspires me to try new things. Knowledge is my wealth!

    Hi Alicia,

Great to hear from you. Another intriguing post from you once again.

As mentioned before, there is no right or wrong decisions. As long as you deem the decision to be a right one for you, I opine that this will be the right decision for you.

Allow me to share with you my personal experience gathered for the past few months following my corporate world exit sometimes in early May 2019.

I feel that I am happier with the free time which I have at my disposal following the exit. There is no pressure on having to rush with the timeline encountered in the full-time employment. I feel more relaxed and at ease. I can feel that I am more healthier with more time for exercise (i.e a short jog over a distance of about 8km per day),

My daily schedule is as follows:

    a) Wake up at 6am.
    b) Commencement of the morning jog at 7am.
    c) Conclusion of the morning jog at 8.30am.
    d) 9am to 10am – Bath and Breakfast.
    e) 10am to 12pm – Surf online, write the post of the day on the blog.
    f) 12pm – Lunch.
    g) 12.30pm to 7pm – Free time. I am in midst of arranging some side hustle such as Hire Car driving & tuition. So far, it is still considered as a free time for me.
    h) 7pm – Dinner
    i) 7.30pm to 10pm – Another slot of free time.
    j) 10pm to 6am – Sleep

You may find the above-routine boring and lack of excitement. It is up to each individual’s preference. Item is the eye of the beholder. I find such schedule to be suitable and comfortable to me.

    To each of our own.

I hope that you do not mind me sharing the above example with you.

    Keep in touch.

Hi WTK, likewise, very nice to hear from you as well! I’m also happy to hear that you’re enjoying your time outside of the corporate world. We have a similar schedule. 🙂 Except for the fact that I’ve been putting off writing on my blog, however have been trying to get back on schedule with that.

I have also enrolled myself in some college courses which I have started and am so excited about. At the moment, I’m thinking to complete a certificate program. My initial thought was just to complete one course!

I’m enjoying and am truly grateful for all that I have. So happy to hear that you’ve also settled in nicely to your new schedule. 🙂

      Will keep in touch.
